Bad Effect of Fast food
In today’s age of convenience, fast food needs no introduction. Everyone from a 3-years-old toddler to a 60-year-old grandpa seems to be enjoying it every chance they get. And why not? It’s delicious, it’s filling, is really affordable, and you can get it easily just by your phone call. What more can you ask for when you are living life in the fast lane?
However, while indulging in fast food every once, eating it on a regular basis can pose the risk of serious health problems down the line. That is why it is so important to be aware of exactly what it is that you’re eating, so that you can be better informed about the choices you make. In addition, there are some fad food effects for your body that you should know.
1. Addiction to greasy foods.
We know that most of fast food are processed by fried and some of them has a sweet taste. Those things make us get addicted with greasy foods because Fast food has a very high energy density. Energy density refers to the amount of calories an item of food contains in relation to its weight. Foods with a high energy density confuse the brain's control systems for appetite, which are based solely on portion size.
2. Effects of Fast Food: Sodium and Increased Blood Pressure
Most of these quick and convenient meals contain high amount of sodium, which increases and aggravates the risks of high blood pressure. Normally our body needs about 1.500 mg of sodium, but one portion of fast food can contain up to 2.300 mg. Although the body requires minimum quantities of sodium, too much sodium contributes to high blood pressure. Sodium can also lead to building-up of fluids in case of people who are suffering from people with congestive heart failure, cirrhosis, or kidney disease.
3. Effects of Fast Food: Dealing with Trans Fat
Trans fat, which is infamous as the worst type of fat, is found abundantly in various fast foods. Trans fat is considered as the most harmful type of fat because it not only increases the ‘bad cholesterol’ (low density lipoprotein) levels but also reduces the ‘good cholesterol’ (High density lipoprotein) levels. Most commonly trans fat is a commonly found in ingredients in all the processed foods. Foods that contain artificial trans fats contain up to 45% more trans fat as compared to their natural fat counterparts.
4. Effects of Fast Food: Unhealthy Lifestyle
Eating fast food and leading a sedentary lifestyle leads to obesity. Obesity leads to other complications like increase in the cholesterol level, blocking of the arteries, the increased risk of coronary diseases, in addition to the general physical discomfort posed by the extra weight. Fast food is also addictive and hence it is very difficult to give up on their greasy and fatty foods and carbonated drinks and switch to healthier options. The point is fast food meals are high in saturated fat and low quality carbohydrates, white bread and lots of soda. Our bodies require fiber and more healthful types of fats. Fast food represents a dietary pattern that is the opposite of what is recommended for a healthy body.
So I have already talked about the bad effect of fast food. There are four effect, which are first fast food has very density energy, second it contain high sodium, then it dealing with trans fat and last it is unhealthy lifestyle. In other words, fast food is kind of addictive; you get hooked on to it and continue consuming it in an uncontrolled way in spite of knowing that it is unhealthy. The more you consume, the more difficult it is for you to opt for foods. To sum up, consuming fast food on a regular basis leads to many health hazards. But bringing about changes in eating habits is not easy. To start with, a simple change that one could make is to successively reduce the frequency of eating fast food and eat more frequently home-cooked food, with plenty of fresh foods and vegetables.
Nowadays in our busy life, we inclined to choose everything that simple and fast, including about our foods, Without considering the effect of those foods to our health, whether it is good or not for our body for the long term. I just hope that we can start to think about our healthy. Because you’re healthy is depend on how you treat yourself.
